The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dedicated and experienced law enforcement professional to serve as a Patrol Sergeant.  This leadership role is integral in supervising patrol deputies, ensuring public safety, and upholding the highest standards of law enforcement.

The Patrol Sergeant will serve as a frontline supervisor responsible for overseeing the daily activities of patrol deputies. This involves managing shift operations, ensuring that officers adhere to department policies and procedures, and providing guidance and support in the field.  The Patrol Sergeants’ leadership ensures effective law enforcement practices and community engagement.

You will be successful in this role by completing the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of patrol deputies.                     
• Coordinate and oversee daily patrol operations - Ensure proper enforcement of local, state, and federal laws.
• Respond to critical incidents and assume command when necessary.
• Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
• Foster positive community relations and represent the Sheriff’s Office at public events.

Requirements:

• Hold current Wisconsin Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with a Law Enforcement Agency – Credit for years of service if an Associate (9 months), Bachelor Degree (18 months), or Master Degree (24 months) has been obtained.
• Minimum of 60 college credits.
• Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
• No felony convictions or arrests with Domestic Abuse enhancers.
• US Citizenship.

Preferred Requirements:

• Prior Supervisory Experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations effectively.

                    Wage & Benefits                       
The hourly wage range is $41.23 - $48.67 per hour depending on qualifications.
